“Died of Wounds”.

While with his Battalion in the line during a heavy bombardment, and when lying in a funk hole dug in the parapet of the trench, he was severely wounded in the stomach by a piece of Shrapnel from an enemy shell. He was immediately attended to and taken to the Regimental Aid Post and evacuated to No. 10 Canadian Field Ambulance where he died.
